Popular questions from our customers
What size should I select?
Please follow our sizing chart to ensure correct sizing. For best results, take a barefoot measurement from the heel to the largest toe and compare to our sizing chart. You can find help for how to measure your feet and our sizing chart here: colours-sizes. If you are in between sizes, we encourage you to take the size up. For example, if your barefoot measurement is 23.6cm-24.5cm, which is between sizes AU Ladies 6 and 7, we recommend purchasing a Ladies 7.
If this method is impossible, such as if you are purchasing a surprise gift for someone, we recommend that you use their regular shoe size.
If you have any questions regarding sizing, you are always welcome to contact us for assistance.
Do sheepskin boots stretch?
Sheepskin boots will stretch where there is pressure around your feet and legs. We generally see sheepskin boots stretch up to half a size.
Unless you prefer a looser fit, your new sheepskin boots should be very snug around the bridge of your feet. However, your toes should not be curling or hurt.
Your heel should be firmly in place without sliding up and down.
Do you sell the American Owned Decker's ‘UGG’ brand?
No, we do not sell the Decker's brand of boots. Deckers are an American owned company who own the brand name ‘UGG’ (outside of Australia) and whose manufacturing occurs mostly in China. They are not an Australian company and they do not make Australian Made sheepskin boots – we do!
In Australia, the term 'UGG' is a generic term which refers to a sheepskin boot and it cannot be trademarked.
What style is more suitable for wider calves?
For wider calves, we recommend measuring your calf area before you purchase. If this measurement exceeds 38cm, please reconsider purchasing boots that go over the calf. An exceptions to this are our Tall Dance boots. These have the ability to widen and give flexibility due to their laces.
The Tall Dance is our recommendation for people with wider calves who are looking for a boot above the mid-calf area.
What style is more suitable for a high instep or wider feet?
For people with a high instep we recommend our Alpine Range. Whether it be the Mini Alpine Boots or the regular Alpine Boots, this range is designed to allow extra space over the bridge of the foot. They are also slightly wider around the sides than traditional boots.
Our Ankle Boot is designed with the stitching coming upwards rather than across the foot. Some customers find that this type of boot is easier on their instep and a better fit for wider feet.
Should I wear socks with my sheepskin boots?
It’s up to you! We recommend enjoying the full effect of the sheepskin's warmth without socks on and most Australians prefer it that way too. Allowing the natural breathing fibres of sheepskin to give you maximum heat. There’s nothing cosier than feeling the fluffiness of sheepskin on your bare feet.
Where can my boots be worn?
In Australia, sheepskin boots are traditionally worn at home and the courageous *may* wear them when they pop out to their local supermarket. These days, you can wear our boots for any occasion or purpose. Our Outdoor range of boots with Hiking Soles can be used for camping and hiking. We've even had orders for formals and weddings!
Wear them as you wish, but look after them as you would look after any of your favourite footwear. Ugg boots are delicate, so you can find tips on how to care for them in our Care section.
Are my sheepskin boots waterproof?
No, they are not waterproof. However, you can make them more water resistance by using our Sheepskin Protector. This will repel and prevent water from absorbing into the sheepskin and leaving unwanted water stains, keeping your Australian Ugg boots looking good for longer.
We have more information in our Care section of the website.
Can I wear my boots in the snow?
Our traditional sheepskin boots are not suitable for the snow. People often associate wearing sheepskin boots with the snow, due to their warmth. However, sheepskin boots are not waterproof and taking them in deep snow will saturate them, resulting in freezing feet. Our Outdoor range will provide you with some limited protection, but the boots will only protect you from snow a few centimetres deep. They should not be used to replace ski boots or gum boots. Bring your Australian Ugg Boots along to wear inside after a long day of skiing instead!
How long will my sheepskin boots / slippers last?
This depends on the use and care. If you only wear them indoors, then you should get a few years out of them. We have seen people bring in their Australian Ugg Boots still in great condition after 10 years. If your boots or slippers are used extensively and outdoors, this time frame will reduce significantly.
There is no need to purchase a new pair if your innersoles go flat. This is normal as most of the pressure when worn goes towards the soles. We recommend replacing your innersoles once they go flat with a new pair of Sheepskin Innersoles, as they will make your Boots feel brand new.
Although sheepkin boots do stretch, teenagers or children that are still growing may require a new pair every season.
Do you custom make boots?
Yes, we do, and we love doing it. If you want us to make you a special, one of a kind pair of sheepskin boots, contact us tell us what you are after!

Will I pay import tax?
There is no import tax for items shipped from and delivered within Australia.
For international deliveries, depending on each country's laws and regulations, you or the recipient may be liable to pay import tax or other related charges. It is always best to check with your local authorities.
For customers purchasing gifts to send overseas, please ensure that you are aware of any import taxes the recipient may be subjected to.
Are your boots made in Australia?
Yes, absolutely! Our Ugg boots are 100% Australian Made. We don’t import components or try to find shortcuts to reduce our cost; they are completely Australian Made and you can expect the great quality that comes with that. By purchasing from us, you are supporting our local craftsmanship, as well as Australian jobs. Our factory is located in Braeside, Victoria, and if you are nearby, you are more than welcome to come and visit us and see our manufacturing in progress. Find our opening hours and address on our Contact Us page.
What kind of sheepskin do you use?
We source our sheepskin right here in Melbourne, Australia, and use the highest quality available to ensure that you receive a pair of Ugg Boots that will stand the test of time.
Australian Ugg Boots Pty Ltd are proud members of The Australian Sheepskin Association.
The main breeds of sheepskin we use are 'merino-cross', and they are ideal for Ugg footwear. These breeds come from key regions in Australia with good feeding and grazing areas. Check out our About Us page for more information about the sheepskin we use!
Is the sheepskin you use sustainable?
Sheepskin is a by-product of the meat industry, meaning that no sheep are farmed specifically for their skin. Our sheepskin providers work to preserve and tan the sheepskin in the most eco-friendly way, when in fact most sheepskins are sent to waste.
Sheepskin is also completely biodegradable, as opposed to synethetic fabrics, which are made using fossil fuels and deposit micro-plastics in our oceans.
